Report: Assad can be sacrificed

Ahead of today’s negotiations on Syria in Vienna, Iran has reportedly opened up for sacrificing sitting Syrian president Bashar al- Assad.

This represents a major shift in Iranian policy regarding Syria, where the country has consistently backed the Assad regime.

“Iran does not demand Assad should be in power forever,” said Iran’s deputy foreign minister Amir Abdollahian to Iarnian media ahead of the negotations.

The negotiations in Vienna consist of the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Turkey.
