Oman spared Cyclone Chapala

Oman has downgraded its state of alert regarding the rare tropical cyclone that has hit the Arabian peninsula’s coast. Yemen has been hit the hardest, while Oman has been spared.

However, the Omani meteorological agency warned that waves as high as three meters were still expected to hit the shores of the Omani Dhofar and Al-Wusta provinces.

More than 5,000 people were put in more than 21 shelter centers in Dhofar in anticipation of the cyclone, in case of any flooding following the cyclone.

Gulf News reports that Omanis called on authorities from social media platforms, to help the Yemeni population that have been hit the hardest by the cyclone.
