The Iranian parliament voted to keep the anti-American slogan “Death to Americaâ€, despite having brokered an extensive and unprecedented nuclear deal with the country just a few months prior.
The Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei clarified that the slogan should not be taken personally by American citizens, and is aimed primarily at American foreign policy – something Iran maintains is harmful to the rest of the world.
“America is the root to most problems in the region – not a part of the solution,†said Kamenei.
