Jordan is reach out to the Russian market in order to promote the Red Sea resort, Aqaba, as an alternative to Sharm al-Sheikh.

This comes after Russia has halted its flights to the popular destination, following the fatal Russian plane crash in Sinai.

The Jordanian Tourism Board (JTB) said that “intensified contacts” were being made with Russian and British tour operations.

Tens of thousands of foreign tourists were stranded after flights were cancelled in Egypt over security fears.
