Turkey waiting for next EU chapter

The turkish Prime Minister, Ahmet Davutoglu, is waiting for the European Union to take the necessary steps in order to make it possible for Turkey to join the EU:

“Turkey is waiting for the European Union to take the necessary steps, especially the opening of new chapters in Turkey’s EU negotiations”, he said in a meeting with the vice president of the EU commission, Frans Timmermans.

Sources that have talked to the turkish news agency Anatolia report that the meeting also discussed the refugee crisis and Cyprus.

According to Davutoglu, the full membership of Turkey in the EU, is a top priority of the new Turkish government.

Timmermans, in return, congratulated Davutoglu to the result in the parliamentary elections, and pointed out “the existence of a common understanding within the European Union, regarding the development of relations with Turkey”.
