EgyptAir Flight MS955 Lands in Uzbekistan Due to a False Bomb Threat

EgyptAir flight MS955  was forced to make an emergency landing in Uzbekistan after the airline received a call claiming that there was a bomb on board, two Egyptian aviation officials said .According to Uzbek state carrier, Egypt’s plane was going from Cairo to Beijing has landed in Uzbekistan due to an explosion threat.

EgyptAir Flight was carrying 118 passengers and 17 crew members, had been evacuated and searched. They said that “No explosives were found.”

Egyptian aviation sources told Reuters the bomb threat turned out to be a hoax.

One official said,”The plane is preparing to resume its journey. It was a hoax, thank God.”

Since EgyptAir Flight crash into the Mediterranean on May 19, killing 66 on board EgyptAir has received a number of bomb threats which have turned out to be hoaxes.

 Moreover, Egypt has been targeted by Sinai Province, an ISIS-affiliated group, had claimed its responsibility for bombing the Russian airliner last year.  ISIS’ online magazine Dabiq contained  what it claims is a picture of the bomb that brought down the Russian passenger jet over Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

Russia’s Flight 9268 crashed on October 31, 2015, after departing from the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh for the Russian city of St. Petersburg, killing all 224 people on board.
