Dahlan, Supported By The U.A.E., Leads a Meeting for Libyan Journalists against the GNA

A conference was held by Libyan journalists in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the supervision of Mohammed Dahlan as reported by UAE71 news. Dahlan is the former Gaza strongman who is backed by Abu Dhabi and Cairo and known for his close relations with Israeli the leaders.

The Libyan writer and journalist “Mujahid Al-Busaifi”,who is the executive director of the TV Channel 218, attended the meeting with the Libyan ambassador to the UAE “Arif Al-Nayed”, the Libyan journalist and owner of Libya Al-Hadath Channel “Mahmoud Al-Misrati”, and the Libyan businessman and former owner of Al-Ahli Club in Tripoli “Ismail Al-Shtewi”, as well as an unidentified Egyptian attendee.

The meeting discussed the reasons behind the unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the Presidential Council (PC) of the Government of National Accord (GNA) supported by the United Nations and some western countries reported the UAE71.

The website claimed that the strategies, which hoped to exploit the power outage situation, inflation and the lack of liquidity, were previously discussed in Cairo last April to incite the Libyan people against the PC in Ramadan.

Accordingly, new media strategies have been issued after evaluating the situation; they will  include focusing on diminishing the popularity the PC members as Ahmed Mitig, Abdul-Salam Kajman, Fathi El-Majbary and the Minister of Defense, Mahdi AL-Barghathi.

Moreover, circulating rumors and false news on both Mitiq and Kajman that they have both struck deals  with different parties that would not benefit the Libyan economy; the first with Italian oil and gas companies, and the latter with ambassadors and Western corporations.

In the same context, the plan seeks to claim a link between AL-Barghathi as Defense Minister and accuse him of being manipulated by the Muslim Brotherhood to weaken his status and to show that  his main goal is to destroy the operation AL-Karama (Dignity) led by Khalifa Haftar.

According to the UAE71, Mahmoud Al-Misrati confirmed that he and Ismail AL-Shtewi are in contact with certain groups in Libya whose main target is to  spread rumors in the Libyan capital to agitate the Libyan public’s dissent to topple the PC.

Also according to the website, Abu-Dhabi is still preventing the House of Representatives (HoR) in Tobruk from granting the vote of confidence to the GNA. Both Abu-Dhabi and Haftar believe that the GNA stand against their fight against Islamists.

Based on a recent study, Abu-Dhabi controls 70% of the Libyan media, which is managed through Dahlan to disturb national unity and instigate a coup against the Libyan Revolution, as claimed by the UAE news website.

Moreover, UAE provides arm support to Haftar’s forces known as the Libyan National Army (LNA). In April, the (LNA) has received several Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) and military pickup trucks that were donated to the Tobruk-based government.

In fact, Egypt, Jordan, and the UAE have allegedly defied the UN arms embargo imposed on Libya by the UN and they became one of the most consistent supporters of the LNA since Haftar took the charge in 2012.
