Ban Ki-Moon Will Be in Palestine, Israel on Final Regional Tour

Outgoing UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled to visit Palestine and meet with Israeli and Palestinian officials on a final trip to the region before his term of office expires in December.

The UN chief will also meet with senior Israeli security officials and listen to their reports on Israel’s policies and measures in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The following day, he will go to Gaza for a visit to a UN-run girl primary school, then to Ramallah for talks with PA president Mahmoud Abbas and premier Rami Hamdallah. Ban Ki-moon, the eighth secretary-general of the United Nations, took office on January 1, 2007, and will continue to serve until December 31, 2016. During his tenure, Ki-moon did not take any concrete steps to end the suffering of the Palestinian people under occupation or even voice remarkable positions towards the Palestinian question.
