Syrian crisis: Jaysh al-Islam shoots down MiG-29 near Damascus

Jaysh al-Islam has announced shooting down an Assad jet fighter near the Assad military airbase of al-Seen in Damascus eastern countryside, activist Hadi al-Munajed said

The MiG 29 jet fighter was shot downed, and the fate of the crew was not known. However, Jaysh al-Islam affiliated social media accounts said the aircrew  was  killed in the crash.

The MiG 29 downing came 16 hours after downing the Assad helicopter that was hovering in Ghouta sky Sunday evening by Jaysh al-Islam, a major opposition fighting group in Syria.

Orient News said they contacted the media office of Jaysh al-Islam which refused to provide any details about the incident.

A thermal missile hit the jet while it was carrying out attacks on residential areas in Tal Markada and Be’er al-Kasab in Damascus eastern countryside.
