Grand National Assembly of Turkey Sends Letters to World Parliaments on the Failed Coup Attempt

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM)’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has recently sent letters on the failed coup attempt to world parliaments.  The TBMM committee letter explained the efforts that have been exerted by the Turkish State to foil this terrorist move.

On the evening of July 15th, a faction of the Turkish Armed Forces attempted to stage a coup in various cities of Turkey, particularly in Ankara and İstanbul. It was understood in a short time that this was more than a treacherous plot: It was a terrorist campaign. The perpetrators fired at their own people, stabbed their commanders in the back and bombed the National Parliament and the Office of the Presidency.

“After foiling the coup the State took the necessary legal procedures within the framework of principles against Fetullah Gulen’s Terrorist Organization (FETO) in all parts of Turkey. Also, it declared a state of emergency, which is expected to be ended within 30-45 days, in order to foil any other coup attempt and secure stability and democracy in Turkey,” the letter said.

Turkey has resisted this terrorist brutal coup attempt through its President, Recep Tayyep Erdogan, Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, the Government, the opposition political parties, the Police, most of the army, as well as the members of Turkish Grand National Assembly and the Turkish people, who all together defeated this coup attempt and stood by democracy and rule of law. Turkey has succeeded to defeat this coup attempt due to its awareness that it is a stable NATO member.

The letter of the TBMM’s Committee on Foreign Affairs thanked all the friendly countries which condemned the coup and the terrorist attack against the Turkish State. “We thank all friendly countries which condemned the coup and the terrorist attack and stood by democracy, rights, and the Turkish State and people against the terrorist attempt experienced by Turkey since July 15,” the letter said.

It was understood in a short time that this was more than a treacherous plot: It was a terrorist campaign. The perpetrators fired at their own people, stabbed their commanders in the back and bombed the National Parliament and the Office of the Presidency.

The terrorist attack led by Fetullah Gulen’s Terrorist Organization (FETO) “has shown that the goal of terrorism is to destroy the legitimate political rights, democracy, and all humanity.”

The letter called on the world countries to cooperate and unite against terrorism wherever it is. “The world, which has been exposed to the most difficult forms of terrorism for decades, should unite against this terrorism at the highest levels of cooperation. There must be a common and strong cooperation against terrorism regardless of its source or place,” the letter said.

The letter affirmed that Turkey will maintain its fight against terrorism, and expressed hope that the friendly states will cooperate with Turkey in this regard. “The State of Turkey is serious in the fight against terrorist organizations, including Fetullah Gulen’s Terrorist Organization (FETO), ISIS and the PKK. Turkey believes that the friendly countries will not stand idle against this terrorism and will cooperate with Turkey in it,” the letter concluded.
