Libyan Armed Groups Mobilize Against The French Intervention In Libya

The Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries has called for total mobilization against what it called as the French blatant aggression in Libya. At the same time, several demonstrations spread all over Libya in protest against the declared French intervention.  The Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries control north west Benghazi that faces daily air force attacks from Gen. Khalifa Haftar’s forces.

In this context, Rachid AL-Saeiti, one of the Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries leaders, called for total mobilization and urged the Libyans to fight against the French intervention. He also said that there will be coordination with the”real revolutionaries” to stand against the French colonization as he said.

AL-Saeiti added that the call for mobilization against  the French intervention will not affect fighting on other fronts, especially the fighting against ISIS in Sirte, central Libya,”As all the revolutionaries have one only target which is expelling the foreign troops out of Libya.”

The Shura Council of Benghazi Revolutionaries leader described the Government of National Accord (GNA) stance by being vague and contradictory, as he believes that the GNA knew about the French troops presence, but it did not contact the council or coordinate with them.

From his side, the Libyan military expert Adel Abd al-Kafy has warned from the French agenda that seeks to divide the country after it expanded its military operations on the Libyan territory.

Abd al-Kafy believes that the full mobilization of the Libyan youth to fight the French troops and other troops as well will increase the spirit and the will of the Libyan fighters to end the battle in Benghazi and Sirte against ISIS.

He also added that Haftar is launching a military operation away from the legitimate recognized government that strongly indicates the presidential council inability to implement the codes of the political agreement that allowed him to enter Tripoli, particularly the ceasefire in Benghazi.

Moreover, Brigadier Mohamed al-Ghasri said that the Liberation of Sirte operation has the ability to liberate Sirte even with the unveiled presence of the foreign troops in the eastern areas. He also added that the Shura Council call will not affect Sirte Front. But al-Ghasri stated one condition for the stability of the the Libyan military and political situation, which is the exit of Haftar completely.

In the same context, one fighter at Saraya Defense Benghazi said the Saraya troops will prepare a new defensive plan after France unveiled the presence of its troops in Benghazi. He also considers the presence of the French troops as a great “danger” on their fighters in the battlefields as it is backing Haftar’s forces that are using special weapons in the ongoing battles.
