Asayish forces, affiliated with PYD Kurdish militias, detained Saturday evening the head of the Kurdish National Council (KNC), Ibrahim Berro, in the city of al-Qamishli taking him to an unknown destination, Orient News reported.

Berro was detained by a group of Asayish forces, who were riding a four-wheel drive vehicle, while he was in a market in al-Qamishli.

This detention comes one day after the KNC held a meeting with majority of its General Secretariat attending, during which Berro condemned the practices of PYD towards the members and followers of the KNC.

Berro added that PYD is trying to trigger a Kurdish-Kurdish conflict, despite the fact that the KNC does own arms.

“The detention of the head of the KNC by PYD militants came one day after those militants assaulted the offices of the Kurdish Yekiti Party and Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, in addition to insulting the Kurdish flag, writing offensive slogans against the leaders and members of the KNC, and accusing them with treason,” Idris Ibbi, a political activists, told ARA news commenting on the detention of Berro.

After the event, tens of Yekiti Party’s members and supporters organized a sit-in in front of the party’s office condemning the detention of the head of the KNC and the secretary of the Kurdish Yekiti Party.
