– Two sergeants were martyred and three other soldiers injured during an operation against the PKK terrorist group in southeastern Turkey, a military source said on Monday, reported Anadolu Agency.

The casualties took place when PKK terrorists opened fire at security forces in Hakkari province’s Semdinli district, the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.

The injured were rushed to the Hakkari State Hospital.

A large-scale security operation continues in the region.

The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU — resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
