Qatar’s Emir Visits Turkey, Meets with Turkish President

The Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani arrived in Istanbul on Sunday for a short work visit to the Republic of Turkey, reported Qatar News Agency.

According to the state agency, the Emir met with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan for discussing bilateral relations and other issues of common concern.

On the other hand, Qatar News Agency said that the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will pay an official visit to Qatar next Tuesday to resume the procedures for holding the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee.

A statement released today by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Cavusoglu will also focus during his meetings in Doha on bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, in addition to exchanging views on regional and international issues, added QNA.

It is noteworthy that Qatar’s Emir met on October 17 with Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal and deputy Ismail Haniyeh in the Qatari Capital, Doha.

“The two sides discussed recent developments in the Palestinian political arena, especially in the Gaza Strip,” Qatar news agency reported.

At the meeting, the emir reportedly emphasized Qatar’s ongoing support for the Palestinian cause, praising “the Gazan people’s steadfastness against Israel’s brutal occupation”.

In turn, Mishaal and Haniyeh expressed their appreciation for the roles played by Qatar’s leaders and people in supporting the Palestinian cause.
