Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs in Sudan for Boosting Bilateral Relations

Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir met today, Monday, with Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah.

During the meeting, the Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs discussed with Sudanese President Al-Bashir the two countries’ bilateral relations and issues of joint concern, in addition to prospects for future cooperation.

In a statement following the meeting, Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs said that he conveyed the greetings of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Commander-in-Chief of the Qatari Armed Forces, to President Al Bashir. The Qatari Minister thanked President Al Bashir for the support given to reach advanced phases of the Soor Spinning and Weaving Factory, which was opened today in partnership between Qatar, Sudan, and Turkey.

For his part, Sudanese Minister of Defense Lt. Gen. Awad Ibn Auf said that Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs’ meeting with President Al Bashir comes in the framework of partnerships between the two sides in all fields, especially in the industrial domain. The Sudanese Defense Minister described the visit as a great success and said it would strengthen communications between the leaderships of both countries. He highly appreciated the role of the leadership, people and government of Qatar in support of Sudan, pointing out that the relations will be further developed and strengthened through a number of achievements and joint ventures.

The Qatari Minister is currently on an official visit to Sudan where he held talks with Sudanese Defense Minister and attended today the opening of the new phase of Soor Spinning and Weaving Factory.
