Turkey: 3 soldiers martyred in PKK attack

PKK terrorists detonate a roadside bomb while a security convoy was passing by

Three soldiers were martyred and five others injured on Tuesday during an operation against PKK terrorists in southeastern Turkey, said a security source.

PKK terrorists detonated a roadside bomb in Gabar mountain region of Sirnak province while a security convoy was passing by, the source said.

The operation to nab the terrorists remained underway, the source told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking with the media.

Earlier, it was reported that a soldier was martyred and five others injured. However, two of the wounded soldiers later succumbed to their wounds at the hospital.

Two more soldiers were injured later and rushed to a hospital in Sirnak.

Meanwhile, five PKK terrorists were killed during the operations, Sirnak Governor’s Office said in a statement issued today.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have been killed since the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – resumed its armed campaign in July 2015.
