Israeli killed after alleged car-ramming attack in Ramallah

An alleged car-ramming attack occured at the Ofra junction near the illegal Israeli settlement of Ofra in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah on Thursday morning, according to the Israeli army, killing an Israeli and lightly injuring another.

Israeli media reported that an Israeli soldier was killed in the incident, while another soldier was injured.

A spokesperson for Magen David Adom said that two Israeli youths were hit by the car. One was declared dead and the other was lightly injured in the incident. However, the spokesperson could not confirm whether the two were Israeli soldiers, reported Ma’an.

According to Israeli media, Israeli soldiers opened fire at the Palestinian driver of the vehicle. Their injuries are not yet known.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that several moments later one Israeli had been killed and the injured Israeli was taken to a hospital for treatment. However, the spokesperson could not confirm if the two were soldiers, according to Ma’an.

The spokesperson added that the “attacker” was detained by Israeli forces, but did not confirm if he had sustained any injuries.
