Morocco’s new PM ‘Othmani’ to chair 1st. cabinet meeting Wednesday

Head of Government, Saad Eddine Othmani, will chair, this Wednesday, his very first governmental council, convened to discuss the socio-economic program of the new government over the next five years.

The program is reportedly scheduled to be presented in front of the two houses of Parliament, either on Thursday or Friday.

Article N°88 of the Moroccan constitution stipulates that after the appointment of the government by the King, the Head of the Government must present the program the government will apply throughout the next five years of its mandate.

The program should outline the activities the government is planning to carry out in various sectors including economy, culture and foreign policy.

The program, according to the Moroccan constitution, is a subject to discussion in front of both parliamentarian chambers, followed by a vote in the House of Representatives.

The constitution also says that the government can only be vested after the entrustment of the House of Representatives, whose members express their approval through an absolute majority vote.
