Malaysian police arrest FETÖ-affiliated suspect for ‘terrorist acts’

İsmet Özçelik is the third FETÖ-affiliated suspect to be arrested by Malaysian police. Malaysia has arressted three suspects with alleged links to FETÖ, citing national security reasons.

Malaysian police arrested FETÖ-affiliated İsmet Özçelik for suspected activities that threaten national security.

Özçelik, the head of a FETÖ school in Malaysia is the third FETÖ-affiliated suspect to be arrested by Malaysian police.

Özçelik used to work as the vice chair of a university in Turkey before he was fired for links to the FETÖ terrorist organization.

İhsan Aslan and Turgay Karaman were arrested on Tuesday under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act on charges of “terrorist acts,” said police chief Khalid Abu Bakar.

“Anyone who threatens our national security is not welcome here,” he added.

FETÖ terrorists are led by U.S. based Fetullah Gülen, who orchestrated Turkey’s July 15 coup attempt and is the mastermind behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police and judiciary.

Since the failed coup, operations have been ongoing in the military, police and judiciary as well as in state institutions across the country, to arrest suspects with alleged links to FETÖ.

The terrorist group is also known for its network comprised of hundreds of schools around the world.
