Iranian Chief of Staff visits Turkey

Developments in Syria and the region have accelerated diplomatic initiatives. Iranian Chief of General Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri arrived in Turkey on Tuesday with a senior military delegation upon the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar.

Bagheri is expected to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli, following the meeting held at the General Staff Headquarters.

The Iranian delegation will remain in Turkey for three days. During Bagheri‘s visit, the high-level delegation is expected to discuss “the fight against terrorism, regional developments, bilateral relations in the defense field, and border cooperation” with Turkish officials.
