ENAG Condemns Egyptian Regime Policies on Coronavirus Crisis

The Egyptian National Action Group (ENAG) called on the Egyptian people and the international community to practice pressure on the Sisi regime to change its clumsy policies on addressing the spread of coronavirus in Egypt before it is too late.

ENAG condemned what it described as the foolish policies of the regime of the coup leader Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, which led to the spread of corona disease inside and outside Egypt, and could lead to the spread of the epidemic in a country inhabited by more than 100 million people, stressing that Egypt is likely to form a weak spot through which the epidemic can significantly spread at the international level.

ENAG said, in a statement on Monday that “as one of the latest manifestations of failure, incompetence and disregard for the interests of Egyptian people, the Sisi regime is currently committing its most recent crime by imposing a blackout on the spread of the Coronavirus in Egypt, without taking required steps stated by the international organizations concerned to prevent spread of the disease in a country and its transfer to other countries,” adding, “This obfuscation on the part of the Egyptian regime has led to discovery of infected cases coming from Egypt, where six cases appeared in France, two in the United States and one in Canada for persons coming from Egypt. This has prompted several countries to deny entry of travelers coming from Egypt, or at least to subject them to quarantine for a period of 14 days, considering Egypt one of 5 countries where the disease is widespread.”

The Egyptian action aroup, which includes Egyptian opposition figures both at home and abroad, called on the Egyptian people as well as the international community to “to practice pressure on the Sisi regime to change these clumsy policies before it is too late when it becomes too difficult to control the disease”.

ENAG also called on Egyptians “to take all necessary care, precautions, and preventive steps to protect themselves and their children from this disaster fueled by the Sisi regime – in addition to many other disasters it has caused to the nation since Sisi came to power in 2013 after a bloody military coup,” the statement read.

ENAG also said that the blackout imposed by the Sisi regime on “the spread of the Coronavirus in Egypt, without taking required steps stated by the international organizations concerned to prevent spread of the disease in a country and its transfer to other countries,” adding, “This obfuscation on the part of the Egyptian regime has led to discovery of infected cases coming from Egypt, where six cases appeared in France, two in the United States and one in Canada for persons coming from Egypt. This has prompted several countries to deny entry of travelers coming from Egypt, or at least to subject them to quarantine for a period of 14 days, considering Egypt one of 5 countries where the disease is widespread.”
